Today, in Chisinau, five cars for "Mobile Team" social services from the rayons of Anenii Noi, Ungheni, Singerei, Dubasari and Falesti were brought into service for representatives of these rayons. The cars, worth a total of EUR 36630, were purchased from European Union funds, in order to support the work of the recently established Mobile teams in the five rayons. The car keys were handed in by His Excellency, EU Ambassador in the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Pirkka Tapiola.



























The event is organized by the Keystone Moldova Association within the framework of the project "Public-Private Partnership for the Sustainable Development of Locally Governed Disability Services: Supporting Decentralization Reform", implemented with the financial support of the European Union. The project, worth EUR 273436, provides for the development of the "Mobile Team" social service in five rayons of the country: Singerei, Falesti, Ungheni, Anenii Noi and Dubasari, as well as for the implementation of actions aimed at changing society's attitude towards people with disabilities and promoting their rights.

"Within the framework of the project funded by the European Union, local authorities in 5 rayons will receive assistance and support in the development of social services for persons with disabilities. Today we bring these cars into service to support the work of Mobile Teams, and, at the end of the project, the cars will become property of local authorities", said the EU Ambassador in the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Pirkka Tapiola.

The Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga, present at the event, said that capacity building of social services is a joint task of the MLSPF, the Ministry of Finance and local authorities. Their capacity conditions the quality of social services, intended for citizens, who deserve to be helped, visited, advised, especially when it comes to children.

"125 children with disabilities will get support from the five Mobile Teams. Due to the cars purchased with the support of the European Union, the Mobile Team specialists will be able to travel more often and more operatively to beneficiaries' homes to provide assistance, "said, in her turn, Mrs. Ludmila Malcoci, the executive director of Keystone Moldova.

The Mobile Team is a service that provides domiciliary social assistance to persons with disabilities and their families in isolated areas, with limited access to specialized services. Services provided by the Mobile Team vary, depending on the needs of beneficiaries and may include: assistance and psychological counseling, medical and rehabilitation/recovery services (physiotherapy, speech therapy), special training in order to develop skills for independent living in the community, etc. This way, the Mobile Team contributes to the early detection of children with disabilities, the prevention of their institutionalization, the facilitation of their social integration, ensuring their access to qualitative rehabilitation and recovery services.

The project "Public-Private Partnership for the Sustainable Development of Locally Governed Disability Services: Supporting Decentralization Reform" is implemented within the "Community for All - Moldova" Program, carried out by Keystone Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, Open Society Foundations/Mental Health Initiatives and Soros-Moldova Foundation.
