VOX: What do young people think about saving energy?

According to the sociological study “Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices in the Field of Energy Efficiency,” young people aged 18 to 29 are less aware of monthly energy consumption and household energy waste.

• Only 34% of young people aged 18–29 have heard of and understand the concept of “energy efficiency.”
• Of all respondents who have not heard of and do not understand the term, 28% are young people aged 18–29.
• 12% of young people in this age group say they don’t know whether there is energy waste in their household.

VOX: What do older people think about saving energy?

According to the sociological study “Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices in the Field of Energy Efficiency,” older adults are the most attentive when it comes to saving energy, sometimes even at the expense of personal comfort and health.

• People over the age of 60 have a higher level of awareness (46%), which can likely be explained by their practical experience in managing resources and saving energy.
• In many cases, this group has lived through difficult economic periods and learned to manage energy consumption more efficiently out of economic necessity.
