    Someone’s legal capacity means that this person has right and obligations; that the person can benefit from them. Every person has the right to take legal decisions that can influence her lives.

  • What has Self-advocacy offered me?

    Keystone Moldova developed an advocacy and self-advocacy movement of persons with disabilities and their families. In this regards a networks of self-advocates was created at national level.

  • What does it mean to be a Self-advocate?

    Self-advocates are persons with disabilities who learn to speak for themselves, learn their rights and responsibilities, learn to make their own choices and to make decisions that influence their lives.

  • Right of free choice

    “I have a disability but I am like you. I can do the same things, only I do them differently.”

  • I want to work, to have my own money!

    Persons with disabilities have the opportunity to choose their place of residence and where and with whom they live on an equal basis with others.

  • Persons with disabilities have equal rights like other people.

    Persons with disabilities have the right to live in the community, with equal rights to others.

  • The right to live in the community

    Persons with disabilities must not be isolated from the community. They also need be included.

  • Now I live in the community

    At the boarding schools, there are more children and young people who want to get out and live in the community.

  • The right to education

    Persons with disabilities have the right to quality education.

  • The right to work

    At the boarding schools, there are more young people who are able and want to work freely to earn their own money.

  • The right to health and recovery

    Persons with disabilities have the right to health and recovery.

  • Persons with disabilities need to be integrated in the society

    "My life at the boarding school used to be hard. I had no occupation."

  • Persons with disabilities want to join the community

    "The boarding schools must be shut down! It is not good living there."

  • Now I am free

    Persons at the boarding schools want to live in the community.

  • All people have equal rights

    "You have no right to own anything! This is what we were told at the boarding school."

  • All children have the right to join a family

    Persons with disabilities don't have to be separated from their families just because they have a disability.

  • Disability doesn’t ask for money

    Tamara Andries, Self-advocate, was awarded for the "Best autobiographical film'" at the Human Rights Film Festival, organised by the Institute for Human Rights. Tamara received the award within the UN Human Rights Award festivity.
